Welcome to Kalamazoo Counseling and Assessment Center!
We are a collaborative group of experienced counselors, marriage and family therapists and psychologists serving adults, children, teens, couples and families in the Southwest Michigan are. We believe that mental health is a critical component of holistic wellness and that therapy can be valuable for everyone, whether the objective is seeking support in a time of grief and loss, building coping skills for anxiety or depression, working through a traumatic experience, managing ADHD and other attention and learning issues, improving a relationship, or simply desiring personal growth through counseling. We offer individual counseling, therapy groups, educational classes, and comprehensive psychological evaluations and assessments and work closely with area physicians and school systems to empower individuals, families and groups to move beyond current obstacles and reach their full potential in school, in the workplace, and in their personal lives. We also offer professional consultation as well as clinical supervision to mental health professionals.
Our clinicians accept a wide variety of insurance plans and also understand that there are times when insurance is not available or might not be your preferred means of payment. We are pleased to offer alternative self-pay rates for our services so that you may choose the option that is right for you.
As our client, you will have private online access to your protected account and will be able to monitor your statements and make payments at your convenience from your computer or mobile device. Receipts for payments will be emailed to you, and you will have access to your own documentation for HSA and FSA management through our online portal. Appointment reminders are available by phone call, text or email, and there will be no lengthy check-in process for most appointments. Of course we are happy to provide traditional paper billing statements and payment receipts upon request.

Life is hard! And to make that more complicated, change can be scary. But it does not have to be. Chris helps clients focus energy into productive and dynamic outlets they can find more return in their energy investment.

Meet Felicia Diaz
Clinical Psychologist
Felicia works with children, adolescents, and adults addressing anxiety, emotional regulation, and behavioral concerns. She specializes in reducing anxiety and avoidance that interfere with daily functioning through collaborative skill-building, distress tolerance, and gradual exposure. With children, she partners closely with caregivers to promote consistency and behavior change.

Meet Desiree Lorente
Limited License Psychologist
I am an English-Spanish bilingual Limited License Psychologist working with individuals who feel overwhelmed, misunderstood, or disconnected from themselves. This could be due to trauma, neurodivergence, or long-term stress.
I take a collaborative, compassionate approach and see myself as a guide and supportive collaborator. My work is informed by multicultural and intersectional perspectives, valuing creativity, play, and curiosity as powerful tools for healing- especially for those who struggle with traditional talk therapy.
My goal is to help my clients feel empowered, connected, and more at home within themselves.
